Heather A. Bruns, PhD, Associate Professor of Immunology, University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, email: [email protected]

 

Heather Bruns is an Associate Professor of Immunology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine.  She serves as Vice Chair of Education for the Department of Microbiology and Co-Director of the Undergraduate Immunology Program. Heather teaches basic, clinical, and special topics immunology courses in a variety of programs and at differing academic levels (undergraduate, graduate, professional). Her current research interests involve identifying factors that may influence a student’s decision to pursue studying immunology at the undergraduate and graduate levels and investigating the effectiveness of learning activities aimed at teaching immunology concepts.

 

Cristin Gavin, PhD, Assistant Professor of Neurobiology, University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, email: [email protected]

 

Cristin Gavin is an Assistant Professor of Neurobiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine. She serves as Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Biomedical Programs and directs the Undergraduate Neuroscience Program, Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program, and is Associate Director of the Neuroscience Graduate Program. Her expertise is in cellular mechanisms of learning and memory, specifically the role of the cytoskeleton in long-term memory formation.

 

 

Suzanne Bohlson, PhD, Professor of Teaching, University of California Irvine, email: [email protected]

 

Suzanne Bohlson is a Professor of Teaching at the University of California Irvine, where she also directs the Master’s program in Biotechnology.  Prior to arriving at UCI in 2019, Dr. Bohlson was on faculty in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Indiana University School of Medicine (2006- 2013) and Des Moines University (2013- 2019) where she taught immunology and microbiology and conducted research in innate immunity.
