Postdoctoral Scientist – Albert Einstein Cancer Center

Dr. George S. Karagiannis is looking for a Postdoctoral Scientist to join his research group at the Department of Microbiology & Immunology (https://einsteinmed.org/departments/microbiology-immunology/), and the Albert Einstein Cancer Center (https://www.einsteinmed.org/centers/cancer/). The Karagiannis lab (https://www.karagiannislab.com) studies the effects of cytotoxic chemotherapy in the tumor and immune microenvironments, using mouse models of cancer development and metastasis, along with state-of-the-art imaging/microscopy, including multichannel and high-throughput immunofluorescence, multiphoton intravital imaging, and digital pathology. The lab is located at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine campus in the Bronx, New York.

The Karagiannis Lab is a newly established lab in the field of Cancer Immunology and seeks particularly motivated individuals to join the research team. Priority will be given to individuals that are interested to progress towards an independent research program. Potential projects involve studying the cellular/molecular mechanisms of macrophage-mediated immunosuppression and exploring immunotoxicology aspects of cytotoxic chemotherapy on primary/secondary lymphoid organ structure and function.

The ideal candidate must have developed an interest and expertise in cancer biology, immunology, or a related field, and should also bear some documented experience in mouse studies. The candidate will be expected to write scientific papers and reports, present at scientific conferences, and engage in departmental seminars and activities. Prior experience in imaging and microscopy will be an advantage, but is not considered a requirement, since the Karagiannis Lab is committed to train all its members in state-state-of-the-art imaging and microscopy, along with the assistance of the Analytical Imaging Facility (AIF) (https://einsteinmed.org/research/shared-facilities/analytical-imaging-facility/), and the Gruss-Lipper Biophotonics Center and its Integrated Imaging Program (https://einsteinmed.org/centers/biophotonics/).

If you are interested in joining our research program, please send an email with the following attachments: (1) Cover letter, (2) Most updated CV, (3) A brief statement (~1-2 pages) of research accomplishments/interests, and (4) Three (3) reference letters, to Dr. Karagiannis at [email protected].
