 Anandita Basu

One sentence describing your research: In my current research project, I am trying to investigate the mechanisms of neutrophil dysfunction post hemorrhagic shock
Name one benefit of being an SLB member: Being a member of the SLB, I feel included in the ‘leukocyte family’ which comprises of experts from around the globe, providing me with first-hand opportunities to acquire knowledge from the group and improve my networking.
An achievement you are proud of in your career to date: I am proud of being part of a dynamic research group here at Brown and being able to work with challenging biological questions, as well as for my contributions to the postdoctoral community in the capacity of a communications chair at the Brown Postdoc Council
One interesting fact about you: In addition to my passion for science, I have an ardent interest for dance (currently pursuing Indian classical dance), and to practice yoga!


 Chyna Gray Lovell

An achievement you are proud of in your career to date: Successfully attaining my doctorate and contributing to the field of sepsis/trauma research.
One interesting fact about you: I love playing dungeons and dragons with my friends from graduate school.


 Essi Yayra Ines Tchalla

One sentence describing your research: I investigate the potential role of gut B cells as tolerogenic antigen presenting cells in the periphery to maintain immune tolerance.

An achievement you are proud of in your career to date: Completing my doctorate degree and subsequently getting a postdoctoral position
One interesting fact about you: I speak 3 languages but can only write in two of them.

One interesting fact about you: I am an avid fan of heavy music, which ironically enough, calms me down during stressful moments.

An achievement you are proud of in your career to date: Establishing an independent research niche focused on immunometabolic regulation of cardiovascular disease while securing competitive funding to support it.
One interesting fact about you: I am a proud cat parent to three adorable cats who definitely run the house.

One sentence describing your research: We use in vivo and in vitro models to understand the molecular machinery that regulates secretion of immunomodulatory proteins.
Name one benefit of being an SLB member: SLB is a research society that is large enough that we see very exciting research regularly, but small enough that there are opportunities for early career researchers to participate.
An achievement you are proud of in your career to date: I had three undergraduate mentees present posters at the same undergraduate research day. Seeing their proficiency and enthusiasm for scientific research grow has been extremely rewarding.
One interesting fact about you: Prior to my graduate training, I worked as a Cytotechnologist in a hospital anatomical pathology laboratory.

One sentence describing your research: My research focuses on the molecular, epigenetic, and metabolic mechanisms underlying trained immunity, with a particular emphasis on how CpG-DNA exposure reprograms hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells to generate long-lasting immune responses.
Name one benefit of being an SLB member: SLB provides a collaborative and interdisciplinary community that fosters mentorship, networking, and the exchange of innovative ideas.
An achievement you are proud of in your career to date: I am proud to have completed my neonatology fellowship and begun my career as an attending physician while continuing to grow as a physician-scientist studying trained immunity.
One interesting fact about you: Having lived in three different countries, I’ve developed a broad perspective that influences how I approach research and collaboration.
