Science Advocacy Resources

As part of SLB's commitment to providing members with resources and tools to advocate for science via effective communication, below are a variety of readily available resources.

FASEB

FASEB and their Office of Public Affairs (OPA) have many resources on their website https://www.faseb.org/. The FASEB Advocacy Tool Kit  provides practical tools and resources to help researchers and scientists communicate with elected officials and the public. SLB is an Affliate Member of FASEB and resources on the FASEB website are available to SLB members including state based fact sheets and more.

AAI Public Affairs

SLB has a strong connection to AAI (The American Association of Immunologists) and AAI has a great number of resources available in this arena with a dedicated public affairs department.  Review their available information HEREhttps://www.aai.org/Public-Affairs

ARVO Advocacy Handbook

The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology is a large organization with many resources including an Advocacy Handbook that is readily available HERE https://www.arvo.org/advocacy/resources

IUIS

IUIS (the International Union of Immunological Societies) science advocacy involves promoting immunology worldwide through education, public engagement, and scientific collaboration to build trust and advance global health. Key activities include organizing global campaigns like Day of Immunology, providing educational resources, supporting the next generation of scientists. The organization also advocates for science's crucial role in addressing global challenges by signing declarations and encouraging public dialogue, as seen in their recent activities around World Science Day. Learn more about IUIS HERE. SLB is a member of IUIS.
